| Chiao Chuang wasted no time in packing his bags for Hong Kong upon leaving school. In Hong Kong, Chiao auditioned for and get a contract as an actor with the Great Wall Film Studios. He built his resume by playing small roles in films like "Sunrise" and "The Outside". Chiao officially became a contracted actor with Shaw Brothers in January 1960 and took his first main role in "Shot in the Dark". He went on to star in films such as "The Love Eterne", "The Bride Napping", "Empress Wu", etc. It was not until 1964's "Lovers' Rock", also starring with Cheng Pei-Pei, Chiao came into his own as one of Shaw Brothers' main leading actor. He cemented that reputation with following hits like "The Trail of the Broken Blade", "Mist Over Dream Lake" and "King Cat". The last movie that Chiao Chuang starred in Shaw Brothers is "Torrent of Desire".
