Summary |
|
Reminiscent of Billy Wilder's The Apartment (1960), Patrick Tse Yin plays an amicable white-collar worker who discovers that the new co-worker (Patsy Kar Ling) he has fallen for is also the taipan's mistress! Secrets continue to mount as the taipan's wife begins to snoop around for clues and feelings develop between Tse and Kar. After the success of The Quarrelsome Couple (1959), writer-director Chun Kim (1926-1969) reunites screen couple Tse and Kar in this delightful office comedy that reflects Hong Kong's rapid rise as a metropolis and the new office culture that has swept the city. Tse and Kar are immensely likable as lovers whose only mistake is falling in love in the wrong place at the wrong time. Despite the complex web of relationships in the film, there's little doubt that the two stars are the couple to root for. (HKLCSD website) |
