| |
China is in the period of warring states. General Hou Chieh, poised to win control of Tengfeng, chases his rival into Shaolin Temple. The monks plead for compassion, but Hou shoots the pathetic general dead. Now the victor, Hou is approached by Sir Peter for permission to build a railroad, which he haughtily declines. Then, though a tactical error and a betrayal suffers a reversal of fortune, after which he is sheltered by an old cook. Hou asks to enter Shaolin as a monk, against the suspicion of the very monks in front of whom he had shot the rival general |
