Reviewed by: timktai Date: 09/04/2007 Summary: Pleasant surprise stunts in a predictable plot Jade Leung and Anita Lee star as a suicidal super cop and her looking-for-marriage partner in this romp through Indonesian(?) location shots. Some surprisingly good stunts and stunt sequences save this otherwise predictable actioner. The cast isn't bad. The bad guys are slimy and effective. The two female leads are cute and athletic enough to be credible. The fiancee is annoying. Somebody's idea of comic relief I'm guessing. The film is almost entirely shot at outdoor locations, which are nice but aren't really used to their fullest by a director who's happy with a couple of wide panning shots to establish the scene instead of having the characters fight in the location. Nice helicopter stunts that this film could have used more of. Walk into this one with no expectations and you'll be fine. Reviewer Score: 6

Reviewed by: mrblue Date: 09/17/2005 Similar to Lethal Weapon, Jade Leung plays a suicidal cop who is paired with a straight-laced inspector (Anita Lee, who is admittedly much younger and better looking than Danny Glover) as they attempt to bring down an arms smuggler. So you can probably guess that the plot and script of this Malaysian quickie are pretty bad. Case in point: the smuggler is supposed to be a major Mafia kingpin, but he's played some European guy that looks like William Regal from the WWF and is named "Mr. Fowler" -- hmmm, okay. At least they had the decency to dub him over so we wouldn't have to deal with yet another supposed American that talks with a thick German accent. But Jade Leung looks really good in both the T&A parts (though she never reveals her "points") and the action bits, of which this movie has both in abundance, which makes Stain Steel worth a viewing. Though its' problems (mostly due to the very low budget) prevent it from becoming a true classic, there's plenty of babes, bullets, and general fun and mayhem to be had in here which should provide good entertainment for fans of the genre. Reviewed by: kachun Date: 12/09/1999 An okay action film, that seems rough in spots towards the end from the print that I saw. Some good fighting from the main characters, but the annoying boyfriend of Leung's partner should have been dropped from the script altogether. He's just there to add some cheap suspense by having him in danger from time to time. The _Lethal Weapon_ elements of the film (very evident from the start with Leung's suicidal tendencies) even go as far as nearly ripping off the music from the earlier movie! The buddy-buddy angle was not developed as much, but you don't care as much towards the end with the very good stuntwork and action scenes. Leung jumping in front of a moving train is terrific (although maybe it just seemed more impressive because my copy was sped up). Reviewer Score: 6

Well, this one has two gun-toting females (hot Jade Leung and Anita Lee) who join forces to crush an illegal gun-run ning operation, and convert Russell "Vanishing Sun" Wong to the good guys. Scenic shots of HK, Singapore, and Indonesia perk up this poorly plotted yarn, as do Leung's spectacular stunts -- including a aerial ride on the side of a helicopter that had the audience cheering in admiration.
