Summary: Silly stuff
The God of Wealth is punished for being naughty and is forced to travel to Earth and do good deeds for the humans so he can go back to the heavens. His interplanetary crash landing causes pandemonium in Hong Kong, with people trying to figure out if he's a UFO or something. Meanwhile he befriends Feng a restaurant owner and his young son, and helps them make their business better, while trying to woo his pretty news reporter sister Ellen. An evil loan shark wants to take away the shop, but later learns about the God of Wealth and hopes to exploit his talents, but they don't go as he planned. Soon police, gangsters and Ghostbusters are chasing him. What's a God to do?
A film obviously made for Chinese New Year, KHFC is entertaining but won't win any Oscars for filmmaking or acting. It's a fine movie as long as you don't take it seriously. Dean Shek is great to watch and always provides chuckles. Alan Tam is fine, George Lam makes a decent villian, while Ben Ben isn't as annoying as usual. How they managed to put the Ghostbusters ("soulbusters") in there is beyond me, but they did it. The best laughs are self referential such as a lady mistaking the Money God for Alan Tam, and then at the end when Cinema City (the company that released KHFC) founders Karl Maka, Tsui Hark and Raymond Wong catch the falling money and exclaim, "we're rich!" That's true! Worth a glance.
