A nice guy tries to quit his gambling habit for the sake of his girlfriend and his family, but his two best friends keep luring him back to the race track, especially after they manage to overhear inside tips for the next day's race. Not a very interesting story, but the great chemistry between Lau Ching-Wan and Ng Sin-Lin makes this a sweetly satisfying movie.

Mark (Lau Ching Wan), an amiable gambler, has been courtingMay (lovely Wu Lian Xian) for ten years now, waiting for that quinella to put him on easy street. His friends are in worse shape; one has moneylenders after him, and the other's wife turns tricks to keep them in the black. I wound up paying more attention to the lead actress, whom I can stare at for long periods of time without blinking.
