Another Raymond Wong Lunar New Year comedy that is good for a few laughs. I wouldn't think it's fair to say this is a sequel as the time period is different. Any hoots, this flick is basically a parody on the Shaw Brother's 1962 flick BRIDE NAPPING with Samuel Hui reprising Chu Mu's role as Chow Tung.

I'm a sucker for the brand of silly humour and good-hearted zaniness that characterizes most Chinese New Year comedies, and this series in particular. Of the three instalments branding the Shakespearean title, this one is probably the weakest, although it is still worthwhile checking out.

The setting has been moved from modern day HK to a period setting that offers the filmmakers an opportunity to spoof some modern urban realities in an unusual fashion. For example, the villagers in this film use "paging frogs" instead of pagers (and the discussion about the advantages of using a silently trembling frog vs. a beeping frog, etc., is quite funny. Other gags (a horse called "Benz" complete with the customary Mercedes emblem in its headgear) are somewhat more labored, including a brothel catalogue that clearly includes pictures of Andy LAu and Michelle Yeoh as available escorts.

The storyline is pretty basic and doesn't really need to be summarized here. Suffice it to say, some people fall in love, there are complications involving lots of opportunities for cross-dressing and mistaken identities and lots of really big stars make really silly faces. All of this is mixed up with some action choreography, and at the end everyone miraculously pairs up in romantic couples!

The stars include Leslie Cheung, Rosamund Kwan and Ng Man-Tat.

Summary: Quite boring

The sequel is nowhere near as good as the original. It lost its touch without Stephen Chow & Maggie Cheung.

Funny at times, but all round pretty boring.

Director Ko Chi Sum does it again with the sequel to "All's Well,End's Well". Set in the Sung Dynasty, this hilarious period tale begins with the arranged marriages of Chou Tung (LESLIE CHEUNG) and his sister Kit (TERESA MO)...

Fairly humorous farce involving plenty of arranged marriages and miscommunication. With an ensemble cast and pop-culture references flying everywhere.
