Summary: Quite good, except for the ending

I found the movie quite good for most part. It was generally well-paced and I actually found myself hoping the gang would pull off the second kidnapping. The acting seemed stilted at times but the storyline kept proceedings entertaining. Some of the schemes Stanley Fung's character comes up with are interesting, although slightly unrealistic.

However, the ending let the movie down. There is an almost unnecessary cameo by Richard Ng and John Shum, with the both hamming it up a little too much. Plus the ending attempted to generate meaningfulness but ended up seeming rather unfulfilling and hollow.

Overall, I think it is still worth tracking down...just fast-forward through the ending :)

Summary: Movie for completists

The movie I saw was titled “the goofy group” in English. (Japanese video)
A group of 4 friends without any money decide to kidnap a rich man. It fails, but, for personal reasons, the kidnapped person asks them to do another kidnapping.
This has little humor, little suspense, and is rather a light movie. Acting was average, but I found Stanley Fung rather good.
The ending is rather awkward, almost left for the viewer to ponder.
Note : Cameo of Richard Ng and John Shum for the fans.

All in all, a movie only for die-hard fans of Hong Kong cinema or completists.
