Summary: 6.5/10-Nice idea, bad ending
I always like films that deal with cultural dislocation, and for the first half, this film deals with the issue in a sensitive manner, highlighting the confusions and difficulties of being a newcomer in a different country. The film also dealt with the emergence of a formerly dependent woman, into an assertive, independent one. But the ending really ruined the mood of the film for me, with a horrid, corny attempt at humour-Anthony Chan bowing to his wife's every wish and behaving very hen-pecked-a stark contrast to the preceding 80 or so minutes where the film was generally quite thoughtful. Apart from that, a decent film.
