Reviewed by: Thomas_Ong Date: 05/18/2001 Summary: Old Master Q - Lao Fu Zi If you love Lao Fu Zi comics, than you will like this movie. It's funny with a lot of slapstick humor just like the comics. It starts of with Old Master Q (OMQ) getting ready for work and going to work close to being late in a restaurant own my his rival Mr. Chow. Then crooks enter the restaurant scaring the other costumers away and indulging themselves with food ordered by other costumers. OMQ tries to make them pay, crooks refuse to pay and a brawl between OMQ and crooks occurs. OMQ, expert of kung fu, defeats the crooks, but Mr. Chow incites the crooks again to fight OMQ, than off they go again, this time destroying most of the restaurant. OMQ wins again then threathens to quit his job. Mr. Chow bribes him to pay up for the damages, thus OMQ continues to work there again. Later we see OMQ along with his buddies Potato and Mr. Chin eating in another restaurant and getting drunk. OMQ recalls how wooing a woman can be dangerous to his health, so he seeks help from the Dragon (animated Bruce Lee) to teach him his superior kung fu. OMQ earns the right to be taught by B.L. and attends his kung fu classes only to find Potato already being instructed by B.L.. OMQ learns various techniques by B.L.'s superior students. Later on at night, OMQ wakes from his nightmare of wooing his main squeeze, OMQ's home is broken into by another crook and the crook ends up forcing OMQ to steal with him. Both of them get caught and they both go to jail. After a few escape attempts, they finally get lucky and accidently gets 'released' from prison. Once out the crook joins his gang of two other thugs and the crook who is the big boss asks OMQ to join. OMQ refuses so they try to kill him. OMQ escapes and returns to the kung fu school. There he practices some more, and along with Potato, defeats two challengers that wants to challenge B.L.. B.L. sees how much OMQ and Potato have improved and enters them to a kung fu competiton. After other fighters fought, it's OMQ's turn, he fights with grace and ease, but is overwhelmed when all his challengers attack him at once. B.L. comes in to the rescue with his famous cat calls, defeats all OMQ's challengers. The End. I would also recommend "Older Master Cute - Legend Of The Water Margin", "Older Master Cute 3", and "Master Q 2001". Enjoy :p
