Reviewed by: evirei Date: 11/14/2011 My idol is back in action, this time taking up the role of Zhao Zhilong based on a famous novel and history. This movie is very much a mixture of ?The Warlords? and ?A Battle of Wits?. But much to my disappointment, this movie dub most of the voices of the actor/actress (including Andy?s) :(. Worst is when the whole story is lack of climax and action packed. The storyline seems to be on the surface and nothing much in detail and even the character development is bad. But of all, I think Vanness Wu and Maggie Q is definately a miscast for the show. Sigh? Reviewer Score: 5

Reviewed by: mrblue Date: 03/19/2011 Inevitably, Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon will draw comparisons to John Woo's excellent Red Cliff, because they are both based on the same source material (the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms) and were released within months of each other back in 2008. Perhaps that's not fair, since Red Cliff is a rousing cinematic experience and one of the best examples of the genre. But even if Three Kingdoms stood by itself, much less just being one in a long series of recent historical epic Hong Kong/Mainland China co-productions, it probably would still come off as decidedly average. Reviewed by: Sydneyguy Date: 09/06/2008 Summary: YIKES!! Im always a little disappointed in watching Andy Lau movies,they never seem to live up to there expectations, and this is no exception. With RED CLIFF out, im glad the storylines are different from each other.Would it be unfair to compare the two movies from the Romance of the 3 kingdoms? Well i have to say yes, since RED CLIFF is a 4.5 hour epic and this is a one hour, 40 minute movie. The focus is on Andy Lau's character Zilong, the first hour seems to have quick flashes of what happened in his career, which leaves the rest of the movie for a build up to a final battle scene. By the way, i dont know about the 3 kingsdoms storyline, so the quick flashes went too fast for me, which makes very little character development. The finals 40 minutes is just fighting, with some sped up fighting scenes. The fact this movie is all dubbed in Mandarin is beyond me. I know how the other actors sound like, and its nothing like them. It was hard to watch as i knew it was fake!! All the actors dont do much to stretch there acting abilities, Andy Lau doesnt look good in this movie,A few dramatic scenes which looked like he didnt pull off (or was it because of the poor dubbing?) SAmmo Hung feels wasted, while seeing old times like Ti ling who isnt aging well and Yueh Hua who is barely recognisable is a nice treat At the end, you feel like you've wasted your time, disappointing Reviewer Score: 3
