Big5->Pinyin mapping update

Postby bkasten » Mon Feb 28, 2005 5:22 pm

The Big5->pinyin mapping has been changed yet again. This one will hopefully be even more accurate than the one it replaces. So, editors, keep a close eye on the transliterations whenever any Big5 data gets submitted, and let me know of any problems or questions. For those interested, this new table can be consulted in raw form. I will post the link once I have published it on the site.

And remember this is not a universal fix. This mapping contains 14177 characters, of which 490 have multiple pronunciations. So we still have this issue, and it will have to be dealt with on a case by case basis.
