Taiwanese two-part book

Postby Oliver Sodemann » Sat Nov 14, 2020 1:54 pm

I can only offer this, and mentioned it, I think, before
in some discussion:

I have got a Taiwanese two-parted book that is based on newpaper ads
week by week in Taiwan, published by a very old man and cinema lover Huang Jen,
whom I met once down there (and who also did a very good book with portrait shots
on each and every actor and actress, about 600 and more from that era, in order of
characters strokes of course, with some bio and real names).

In this book, one can find week by week what was in their
cinemas back then, also re-releases with different titles.
All in Chinese, should be no problem with anyone here.

Internet entries are not my first sources (they can only put it
what they have from books), but books are.

Personally, I cannot do such a task to put in all data in this
two-parter, I am here for other things with my time, but if anyone
here would like and love to do such a pure data job, I can copy this book
and send it to him (not scanning which take 100 times longer).

This is a very reliable original source, that old man who
published it lived for movies through all decades collecting
any sheet of newpaper and info.

So, this all could save pretty much online research time here
with just single cases from time to time. In this regard I would
also recommend to put the location of a release date in
brackets with such entries. To make everything clearer
and more transparent.

Of course, such a volunteer editor for this job would have
to make entries very precise and diligently. So he would have
to really love the task with putting in pure data.

Oliver, this is wonderful. If nobody else would like to volunteer, then I can do it. If the book is all in Chinese, then perhaps that would be best as my wife is an HK native and can assist. Bob

So, please let me know where to send the copies then.

But give me some time ... beginning of next year.

Happy to help.
I officially retired from active service in 2009,
but I can nibble at the work, as time allows.

Bob, if you can supervise a useful way to hand out chunks,
do get in touch, and we can discuss tactics.
