Sometimes what seems obvious to one editor, doesn't seems obvious to others, and they may ask to explain his point of view.
We had many cases that the editor thought about something that is obvious, but in the end turned out that he was wrong.
So the 1st purpose of forum notifications is to see if there are other editors' opinions, and that may reduce possibility of mistakes. No objections in about 2 weeks - free to change. It's not that difficult to wait.
The 2nd purpose of forum notifications is to have record of reasons and details of data change.
