Cute indeed! She comes across as a delightful young woman, clearly very comfortable being interviewed although the settings and informality of the podcast crew might have something to so with it.

Seriously! Over here, she'd only talk to the press through a micro-managed NASA press conference!

I can't wait for the movie. Though I'm sure they'll ramp up the melodrama. The male astronaut who got booted off the mission will be a handsome millionaire prince who redeems himself back on to the mission. The mother won't just faint; she'll end up in the hospital on life support, and only when her daughter gets closer to God will she miraculously awaken. And North Korean spies will infiltrate the South Korean space agency to try and sabotage the mission. And Yi So-yeon will be played by Sassy Girl herself, Jun Ji-hyun, so she can smack her fellow cosmonauts around for a few laughs.

Embedded in the book is a critique of China's insensitivity to its minority people and their values and religious beliefs, an insensitivity demonstrated more recently by the heavy-handed treatment of protesting monks in Tibet. Read this way, Wolf Totem's release couldn't be more timely.

A breakthrough could come Saturday when Penguin Canada publishes Wolf Totem by Beijing author Jiang Rong. The autobiographical novel comes trailing clouds of glory: it has sold 2.4 million genuine copies in China and an estimated 20 million copies in pirated editions. It won the inaugural Man Asian literary prize last year, given by the same group that awards the prestigious Man Booker.

If the author had even a dollar from every one who actually read his book . . .
