Biography
 
  Because of his physical stature, Chiao was known as "The Lion of the Cinema". The versatile Chiao was good at horseback riding, diving and plane piloting. He was also fluent in English, Japanese, Korean and many Chinese dialects. He once served as an interpreter for the US Army during the Korean War. Chiao played in "Fresh Peony" directed by Bai Guang in which the latter also made an appearance. Afterwards Chiao took part in "Air Hostess", "Escort Over Tiger Hills", "A Touch of Zen", "The Arch", "The Valiant Ones", "All's Well End's Well '97" and so on. He also appeared in foreign movies like "Ferry to Hong Kong" and "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom". From the eighties of the last century onwards Chiao also acted in TV dramas including "Blowing in the Wind" and "Guardian Angel". He was made Best Actor by the Hong Kong Film Awards with "Summer Snow". A devout Christian, he founded The Artists Home with a view to creating solidarity and spreading the Christian faith among film workers. His last work was "Sometimes, Miracles do Happen" which was about the Christian religion.
