It's the 21st century, and women run the world. Also, production of babies is limited by government standards. Mr Lung is sub-standard, but wants a child anyway. This involves employing a professional mother to carry the baby, to prevent exertion on his wife.
But things go wrong. A boy is conceived instead of a girl. Lung's wife leaves him for this reason, but Lung wants the pregnancy to go ahead.
