風塵三女俠 (1994)
Why Wild Girls

Summary: Well-made, watchable and fun soap-opera

It's often difficult to tell individual characters apart in HK films, especially when they have large casts, fast pacing and frequent changes of viewpoint. But in this case, having three almost identical-looking actresses in the lead makes it practically impossible. And knowing their names helps only a little.

Yuen King Tan blasts in and out a few times, but she's in good company with this lot, who certainly are a wild lot. Jamie Luk puts in an appearance as Bobo's cop brother. The first half is mainly played for comedy, the second half becomes more serious.

Despite the unfortunate title, this is not a horrible movie. It's kind of like the female version of TOM, DICK, AND HAIRY (not surprising given the Chinese title). Particularly interesting is the way in which one of the three bachelorettes connives to steal a handsome neighbor from his mean girlfriend, but then realizes that love is not just a frivolous contest.
