Big Man Little Affair

Summary: A waste of time.

I picked this up recently for $ .13 US, but didn't get my money's worth. I was attracted by the illustration on the cover, a portrait of a woman who looks like a Chinese Doris Day, and I thought I might be getting a Rock Hudson/Doris Day sex farce. Nothing like it.

The story involved a family man who is influenced by his playboy co-worker to try to be a "big man" by getting involved with the women. The corporation they work for shuffles them to the sidelines by sending them on a sales mission to Taiwan. The playboy takes it as an opportunity to go wild with the women and family man finds himself getting pulled in. Michael Wong plays the family man; I had no idea went back to 1989 and beyond. The guy that plays the playboy is totally unconvincing. I could see prostitutes paying him not to have sex with them; the idea that he could attract a woman defies belief.

The DVD copy I saw was not very good; washed colors and the look of an old VHS rental tape.

Dopey in a bad way.

Summary: Big yawn, little interest

Not that bad but not that good either. Competent acting and directing, story easy to follow for the most part (apart from what the hell the two leads are doing going to a gay bar), a few nice looking women who are easy on the eye, but there's nothing special here. Simon Yam wildly overacts for his little time on screen. Any thought of suspense is telegraphed by the opening credits. On the whole, a comedy that doesn't generate laughs.

Okay if you're bored.
