Legacy of Rage

Summary: Not as bad as all that

There was a brief period in 1986 when Michael Wong was actually quite good - a period that produced the classic ROYAL WARRIORS and this lesser work at least. Here he plays a bit of a scoundrel, and is genuinely ok. Not annoying at all!

I'm still glad he's not the lead in LEGACY OF RAGE though - that honour goes to Brandon Lee, in his only Hong Kong movie appearance (and one of the very few movies he made total). Lee is pretty good too, with charisma and conviction that might not be up to papa's levels, but could have been enough for a decent career in action movies.

Apart from the cast, there's little to really distinguish LEGACY OF RAGE from any number of other Hong Kong action movies of the eighties. Buckets of melodrama, some cars, some explosions, a bit of kung fu and a lot of bullets. It's quite a well executed example though. The plot is perfunctory but coherent and moderately interesting, the acting's pretty good, pacings good. It's a shame there isn't more action - and that the action we do get isn't a little bit better. It's not bad, but certainly not equal to Mang Hoi's choreography in ROYAL WARRIORS the same year. The finale does feature some insane gunplay and car stunts though

Not a remarkable movie, but a decent enough 80's style HK movie - and there can never be too many of those

Summary: Poor

"You set me up, I must seek revenge"...ha! This film so belongs in the 70's! Like the other reviewers said, it's got nothing new what so ever, and is honestly a load of rubbish.

I find it hard to beleive that CLifton Ko of all people was resonsible for writing this film, as the story could have been written out on the back of a match box.

Summary: YIKES!!

OH a average action movie which tries to attract people because the son of Bruce Lee is in it. Sorry that is not enough to save this movie. IT's all been done before.

Summary: Pretty good

It's puzzling why there is so little action in this film, given that it stars Bruce Lee's son. And the story meanders all over the place, which gives it the appearance on a true story.
However, I found the story very involving, despite the relative lack of action.
It's a bit like a re-make of Prison On Fire. Not as good, but definitely worth watching.

Brandon Lee is a naive young man, set up by his "best friend"Michael Wong, so that he ends up serving 8 years in jail. Wong, in the meantime, is hitting on Brandon Lee's girlfriend/wife (?). Michael does more bad stuff, Brandon gets out of prison and, learning of his friends betrayal, goes after him, seeking revenge.

The worst. The martial arts isn't very good and the story is way too pokey. There is the obligatory HK style shootout ending. It isn't bad technically but since I couldn't get into the rest of the movie, I had a hard time carring much about the shootout. I may be a minority of one but I still think Brandon Lee's best film is SHOWDOWN IN LITTLE TOKYO.
