Based on an excerpt from water margin. This is a very goodShaw Brothers movie that some will love (for the classic sets, acting, mood, music, and kung fu- all of which are great). Some may think there is not enough fighting. The movie has a good amount of action, its just not non-stop. One other thing: you have seen revenge for master, you have seen revenge for famliy/friends, now watch "revenge for me." Lin Chung is set up by Master Kao and his father, who are higher ranked than he is (Lin controls 800,000 troops), and Master Kao wants Lin's wife (he keeps trying to rape her). So they get Lu Chien to set up Lin to make him look like an assassin. Lin gets arrested and is going to be taken to the capital for trial. They pay his two guards to kill Lin along the way. As if that were not enough, Hsueh Pa and Tung Chao (the two guards) torture him the whole way. Luckily, early on Lin reunited with his "brother" Lu Ta (a monk who is great at kung fu). The mood is somber, the music is eerie. Lin keeps saying he does not want to kill (whereas Lu Ta really does: "Big Brother you killed again." (Lin) "Killing dogs is no crime."(Lu Ta). To make matters worse, they won't leave his family alone. Finally, in the end, Lin Chung has been pushed too far and exacts his revenge in a bloody way. I really liked it. RECOMMENDED.
