The 1997 Asian economic crash hit many in the Hong Kong entertainment circle hard, as many lost virtually all of their investments and had to take up most any role that came across their agents' desks for the next several years, as they scrambled to recover financially. We have a prime case in point with 2001's Sex Medusa, a straight-to-video release that wastes the talents of most everyone involved in the production.

Summary: bad, bad, bad

Carrie Ng, Vincent Wan and Elvis Tsui embarrass themselves appearing in a DV movie helmed by career assistant director Tommy Law. This debacle was one of Law's first features. Borrowing from Alien and a number of "snake and sex" films, Law tries hard but achieves a laughable result. He should have cast Ng as the snake girl and he might have had some success with her performance. Since he didn't, his film is closer to X-Cop Girls [2000] than it is to Phantom of Snake [2000]. Avoid.
